Founded in 1904, First Reformed Church has been a pillar in the Lynnville-Sully area. For over 100 years FRC has been a place for people to come and experience the love of God and the fellowship of others. Many people describe FRC as feeling like home, and we seek to show radical hospitality to all who enter the doors.

Sully is a rural community of about 900 people, located in the heart of Jasper County. Located about 20 minutes from Pella, Grinnell, and Newton, and an hour away from Des Moines, Sully is a great place to experience all the benefits of small town living, while still having the amenities of larger communities near by. The Lynnville-Sully school district has consistently been a top-awarded district in the state of Iowa.

Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ took on human flesh. Conceived through the miraculous work of the Holy Spirit, He was born of the Virgin Mary. He, being fully God and fully man, lived a sinless life and sacrificially shed His blood and died on the cross in our place accomplishing redemption for all who place their faith in Him. We believe in the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ three days later and in His ascension in to Heaven, where He now sits at the right hand of the Father. He is now Head of His Body the Church, the only Savior and Mediator between God and man, and will return to earth in power and glory.

The Trinity

We believe there is only one living and true God, worthy of honor, confidence, and love; that in the unity of the Godhead there are three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, executing distinct but harmonious offices in the great work of redemption.

The Bible

We believe in the authority and sufficiency of the Holy Bible, consisting of the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments, as originally written; that it is inspired and is the product of Spirit­ controlled men, and therefore is infallible and inerrant. We believe the Bible to be the standard of all human conduct.

The Fall

We believe that mankind-male and female-was created in the image and likeness of God, but by voluntary transgression Adam fell from his sinless state, and thus all human beings sinned in him, and are partakers of Adam's fallen nature, and therefore are under condemnation without excuse. Thus, all are in need of the Savior.

Salvation

We believe that salvation is initiated by grace through Jesus Christ. Who, voluntarily took upon Himself our nature, yet without sin; that by the shedding of His blood in His death He fully satisfied the just demands of a holy and righteous God regarding sin, a voluntary substitution of Himself in the sinner's place. We believe that faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is the only condition of salvation.

The Church

We believe that a local church is an organized congregation of believers; observing the sacraments of Christ; governed by His laws; exercising the gifts, rights, and privileges invested in them by His Word. We believe the true mission of the church is the faithful witnessing of Christ to all people as we have opportunity. We hold that the one and only Leader of the church is Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit.
